Welcome to the home of Enchanting Shih Tzu. My family lives in the northern Utah town of Wellsville, nestled below the beautiful Wellsville Mountains. Our family consists of me, my husband, and our 6 beautiful daughters, as well as several adorable and loving Shih Tzus and several cats.
I insist on knowing about the people who will be providing loving homes for my pups and so in return I would like you to know a little bit about me as well.
I grew up in a small rural area of Utah and have always had an intense love for animals. My first and foremost love growing up was horses. But a close second was always the dogs and cats we had. My brothers had labs for hunting, and our family always had a small house dog. We even at times had rabbits, sheep, cows, and pigs. All of these animals were a very important part of my growing up and have continued to be even today. I spent many, many hours caring for and loving the many animals that made my childhood so rich. I still feel that intense love for animals, especially these wonderful little dogs.
Then, several years ago our family was introduced to the wonderful Shih Tzu breed. Two of my daughters actually purchased our first pup, Sydnie. We all quickly fell in love with this little breed and decided we would like to try breeding them. I set to work researching and learning all I could about the Shih Tzu breed. I wanted to be a knowledgeable and reputable breeder. Time and time again in my reading I read that if you were going to breed you should breed with quality dogs and that you should breed to improve the breed not just to produce puppies. With that in mind I set out to find the best Shih Tzus that I could. After a lot of frustration in not being able to get anyone reputable to even consider selling me a dog of quality, I was finally successful in purchasing some nice dogs. They are the dogs that are currently shown here on my site.
These little dogs have certainly brought a lot of love and joy into our home. Our children have a lot of fun playing and cuddling with them, pups and adult dogs alike, although it is especially fun when we have a litter or pups to love and enjoy. There's nothing like cuddling up with a sweet little puppy. The hardest part in all of this for us is parting with them when they are ready for their new homes.
This certainly has been a very rewarding venture for me, as I love these little dogs and the love they have to offer. It certainly has not been easy getting started, and there has been some heartache along the way. But, I have had several people who have helped mentor me along the way, and that has made a big difference. They have given me lots of good advice and encouragement, which I truly appreciate.
I have shown several of my dogs myself and that is something I would like to continue to learn about and get better at. Utah is a very hard place to show and finish a dog, as there is only 3 AKC-sanctioned sets of shows here in an entire year, and since I have a young family I do not have the opportunity right now to travel. However, one of my goals for the future is to be able to show and finish some of my own dogs. I would love to be able to get some of my pups out there in the show ring with handlers and new owners and hope to be able to do that in the very near future.
My goal as a Shih Tzu breeder is to produce the nicest specimen of the Shih Tzu breed that I can. Quality is very important to me and I hope that it shows in my dogs. I breed to the AKC Shih Tzu standard (9-16 pounds) and hope to be able to raise many show quality pups. My breeding program will stay small so that my dogs can have the best of care as well as the attention they need and deserve.
Well, I hope you now know a little bit more about me. I love to talk with anyone interested in Shih Tzus. Give me a call or send me a quick email if you have any questions. Or post your comments here on the site. I'd love to hear from you.
Have a great day!
